Warriors' Draymond Green Speaks Out on Devin Booker Incident

The Golden State Warriors‘ 2025-26 NBA season came to an end with an NBA Play-In Tournament loss against the Phoenix Suns this past Friday.

The game, which secured the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference for the Suns, ended with a double ejection for Draymond Green and Devin Booker in the closing minutes of the contest.

Referee Scott Foster tossed Green and Booker as their heated discussion continued to escalate in Phoenix.

Green explained the situation from his point of view during the most recent episode of his podcast.

"Devin Booker told Scott Foster that I punched him in the stomach, which is a lie," Green said, via NBC Sports. "Number one, I punch with a closed fist. Number two, it's very obvious I was taking a foul. So, Scott Foster goes to review it, realizes I didn't punch him in the stomach, and he calls an away-from-the-play foul.”

"The guy was passing the ball, so I'm not sure how it's away from the play, but I think that's Scott Foster's way of [saying], ‘There's not really much here for me to call a flagrant foul or a technical foul, but I feel I need to do something.' And so he calls it an away-from-the-play foul, which to me made absolutely no sense,” Green added.

Green was on the Warriors’ bench as he jawed with Booker on the court at the Mortgage Matchup Center.

"I was standing on the sideline, and Book was shooting a free throw," Green explained. "And I was saying, ‘Yo Book, I punched you?' And I kept saying, ‘So I punched you?' and he didn't want to answer.

"I kept asking him, and then finally he was like, ‘Man, I said I moved on, Dray. I ain't know. I said I moved on.' And I asked again, ‘So I punched you?' and he got a little testy and started making some comments, so I made some comments back to him."

While things got heated in the moment, Green clarified that it’s all love between him and Booker.

"Make no mistake about it, Book, that's my young fella," Green said. "Always has been. That relationship stems back to Book being in high school, and nothing [is] going to change that relationship."

"That's my little bro. Scott Foster [was] putting himself in a place where he didn't necessarily belong. Kicking us out with one minute to go is pointless. The game is over. Our season is ending. They're moving on, and so I really just thought he did too much in that situation."

Green explained that Booker thought he was calling him a “choice word.”

"He thought I was calling him a choice word, which I was not calling him," Green said. "I was calling Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green that, who was behind him talking, but we had our conversation, and we moved on."

Booker and the Suns suffered a blowout loss against the reigning-champion Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of their first-round series, falling with a 119-84 final score.

The Suns will tipoff against the Thunder in Game 2 on Wednesday night.
