Former NFL Star Shannon Sharpe Issues Public Thanks To WWE

Shannon Sharpe and "Nightcap" were a big part of this year's WrestleMania 42 coverage in Las Vegas and the Hall of Famer couldn't be more grateful.

The former Broncos-Ravens tight end has described himself as a lifelong wrestling fan in the past and this week he and his partner Chad Ochocinco interviewed the likes of WWE legends such as the Undertaker - as well as modern superstars like Jey Uso and Nia Jax.

And taking to X on Tuesday, Sharpe thanked the WWE for the opportunity ahead of its live Netflix special.

Shannon Sharpe shouts out WWE after WrestleMania 42

In a post to his official social media account, Shannon issued a public thank you to the powers that be for such a warm welcome into the wrestling world.

"I want to send a huge shout out to the team over at @WWE & @netflix for an amazing weekend," Sharpe posted. "From Radio Row, WWE World, to Wrestlemania!!! Thanks for a great show & even better hospitality! 🙏🏾🔥"

Shannon Sharpe has high praise for Spurs C Victor Wembanyama

On a recent episode of three-time Super Bowl champion's podcast, Uncle Shay marveled at the play of San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama who just won the NBA's first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year Award.

"We've seen a lot of guys. We've seen Shaquille O'Neal bring the ball down, but to handle the ball like that?" Sharpe asked. "Consistently get the ball at the three-point line, and he'll get a middie. He'll handle it, shoot a three. They passed it to him in the corner. He like, 'Take that with you.' ... No, we've never seen anything like this."

"Basically, he's probably a guy that's four, five inches taller than Kevin Durant and doing what he's doing. Because Kevin Durant - we never seen anything like that. We saw Dirk Nowitzki at seven-foot, but Dirk ain't have handles like that," Shannon added. "Now you got somebody at 7'4 and-a-half - what the hell? What the hell you doing, man?"

Shannon has found a way to remain successful since parting ways with "First Take" and ESPN. Last year, he and his brother Sterling became the first sibling players to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
