Judge Goes Easy On Sherrone Moore With Official Sentencing

Former Michigan Wolverines head football coach Sherrone Moore has officially been sentenced by a U.S. state judge.

Moore, who was fired by Michigan in December, allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member. After getting fired, Moore was arrested. He was ultimately charged with two misdemeanors - malicious use of a telecommunications device involving a domestic relationship and trespassing.

On Tuesday afternoon, April 14, Moore was officially sentenced. He has avoided jail time. Moore has been sentenced to 18 months probation, no jail time.

Still, while Moore avoided jail time, he was criticized heavily by the court.

"Frankly Mr. Moore, you had no right to do what you did. I know she was placed in fear. It was a traumatic experience for you, it was certainly a traumatic experience for her. But you had no right to spread your pain to her."

However, the judge stated that the facts of the case did not warrant jail time.

Michigan's football program is moving forward

The University of Michigan moved on by hiring former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham. The veteran, proven head coach will look to push the Wolverines past the Moore scandal and into the future with success.

Michigan will look to compete atop the Big Ten Conference, loaded with national title contenders like Ohio State, Oregon and Indiana, during the 2026 college football season and beyond.
