Michigan Receives $3 Million Update on No. 1 Transfer Portal Recruit

Following their national championship win, the Michigan Wolverines have quickly gotten to work navigating the transfer portal. Head coach Dusty May has a reputation for making big splashes after putting together the No. 4 transfer class last offseason, with four commitments.

The Wolverines have already landed former Tennessee Volunteers forward J.P. Estrella. The coaching staff continues to push for an even bigger fish, though. Former Wake Forest Demon Deacons guard Juke Harris is the No. 1 player to hit the transfer portal this offseason, according to On3.

Michigan has been trending in the right direction for the sophomore. On Friday, On3's Pete Nakos even logged a prediction for Harris to commit to the Wolverines. However, Nakos did note that other teams such as NC State, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas Tech are also "in the mix."

While the Wolverines would love to land Harris, he may come with a big price tag. On Tuesday, Nakos provided a new report, claiming that the guard is expected to earn a deal worth over $3 million.

"Sources expect the Wake Forest transfer to land a deal upwards of $3 million," Nakos wrote. "That number could balloon if a bidding war breaks out between the schools."

It's a number much higher than his On3 NIL valuation of $1.5 million, which is already the 25th-highest in college basketball. However, Harris has proved to be a valuable option when on the court.

Last season for the Demon Deacons, the sophomore started all 35 games. He averaged 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field and 33.2% from the three-point line.

His performance led to several exciting accolades. Harris was named the ACC Most Improved Player and earned All-ACC second team honors. Now weighing his options, the national championship-winning Wolverines are a serious option.

With a price tag that could eclipse $3 million, Michigan must decide whether Harris' potential on-court impact is worth it.
