Kelsey Plum Shows Extreme Maturity With 2026 WNBA Contract Move
Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum has finalized a contract for the 2026 season.
The All-Star guard has agreed to a one-year deal for the season. She's signing at a discount, though. Plum has agreed to take less money so the Sparks can have more flexibility to build out a championship roster.
"Breaking: Kelsey Plum is signing a one-year, $999,999 deal to return to the Los Angeles Sparks," ESPN reported.
"Plum was in line for the $1.4M supermax, but opted to sign at discounted rate to give LA financial flexibility to build a title-contending roster."
It's a strong move from Plum.
The WNBA world is praising her for the roster move
"I love it. Got that bulldog in her," one fan wrote.
"Kelsey Plum took a $400K+ haircut just to help the Sparks build a real contender… but they couldn't round up to a clean $1M? That's some next-level team sacrifice… with a side of accounting pettiness," one fan added.
"Four-time All-Star betting on the squad over bank. Sparks window just blew wide open," one fan added.
"How often do stars actually sacrifice salary to improve their team's championship chances?" one fan added.
It's a rare move, but it's a strong one.
