Francis Ngannou and PFL Part Ways in Surprising Move
Francis Ngannou (18-3) is no longer a member of the PFL roster. The MMA promotion issued a statement to Sherdog.com revealing that “The Predator” has been released from his contract. Ngannou had just one fight under the PFL banner, and it was a first-round knockout win over Renan Ferreira back in Oct. 2024.
"The Professional Fighters League has made the decision to part ways with Francis Ngannou," a PFL representative said. "We have great respect for Francis as both an athlete and a person, and we wish him success in the next chapter of his combat sports career. The PFL remains focused on recruiting and signing the best athletes in the sport while continuing to deliver world-class competition for fans around the globe."
The news comes amid significant changes within PFL. Back in January, Donn Davis announced his resignation from the chairman position. This followed the departures of former CEO Peter Murray and ex-president Ray Sefo.

Francis Ngannou’s Options Going Forward
In early 2023, Ngannou left UFC as the promotion’s heavyweight champion. UFC CEO Dana White has been at odds with “The Predator” ever since. White even mentioned that Ngannou once tried getting physical with both him and UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell. While many argue UFC’s heavyweight division could use a spark, a reunion with Ngannou doesn’t appear to be likely.
Ngannou could still find lucrative opportunities in the boxing world. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has already mixed it up with former boxing titleholders Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Fans of the sweet science have called for Ngannou and Deontay Wilder to share the ring. Wilder is scheduled to clash with Derek Chisora on April 4.
