CFP taps two Grammy Award winners to headline concert prior to championship game
A pair of Grammy Award winners will headline a free event in support of the College Football Playoffs.
Calvin Harris and Peso Pluma will perform on the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! stage in Miami Beach on January 17th and 18th, respectively. Their shows will precede the CFP National Championship game that will occur Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
“Miami knows how to throw great events – big events – on a grand scale,” CFP executive director Rich Clark said Thursday at an event that announced the musical guests. “That’s what we want our College Football Championship to be: grand.”
In addition to Harris, that Saturday’s showcase will also include performances by DJs John Summit and Xandra. Genre-blending band Latin Mafia and singer Greeicy will also accompany Peso Plum on Sunday. Prior to kickoff, Latin country star Kat Luna will grace the stage at the Allstate Championship Tailgate outside the stadium.
“This is a great community celebration because you’re going to see such a level of enthusiasm and excitement,” said Jack Seiler, the president and chair of the 2025 Miami Host Committee.
With tickets to the national championship game likely out of many people’s price ranges, these events are designed to engage the community in a different way. Similar efforts include Playoff Fan Central, an interactive, family-friendly activation at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Media Day presented by Great Clips, Extra Yard for Teachers Summit, the Baptist Health CFP Trophy Trots 5K and 10K as well as the Taste of the Championship.
“We want this to be a community event and an event that’s even bigger than just the game,” Clark said, later calling these “opportunities for folks to have a touchpoint with our championship events.”
Added Clark: “They’ll have a chance to feel it, to be a part of it, and that’s what we want. We want people to have a lasting impression of this game and for it to be a positive one because they actually got to participate.”
