Saudi club that Lionel Messi spurned just offered Kylian Mbappe a record deal
The Saudi Arabian club that tried luring Lionel Messi, before he joined Inter Miami, splashed a record deal at a former teammate of the Argentina superstar.
Al-Hilal offered $332 million to Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, according to the Associated Press.
Multiple reports linked Mbappe’s future with Spanish giants Real Madrid. However, soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Real Madrid wouldn’t get Mbappe until 2024.
Romano reported no talks occurred between Al-Hilal and Mbappe yet, but PSG accepted the bid.
Mbappe, 24, is a 2018 World Cup winner with France and is considered one of the best players in the world. He scored a hat trick in the 2022 World Cup final. It was in a losing effort for Les Bleus’ title defense against Messi and Argentina.
It was the first World Cup title for Messi, who spurned Al-Hilal and a return to FC Barcelona for Inter Miami when he left PSG.
Messi’s first match for the Major League Soccer club was Friday night, where he curled a game-winning free kick in front of LeBron James, Serena Williams, David Beckham, Kim Kardashian and a stadium packed full of fans.
