The Minnesota Vikings are releasing star running back Dalvin Cook, according to multiple reports.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Cook leaves the Vikings as the franchise’s third-leading rusher of all time. Cook tallied 5.993 rushing yards during his six seasons, which ranks behind Robert Smith and Adrian Peterson.

Cook, who played high school football at Miami Central and college football at Florida State, also scored 47 touchdowns for the Vikings.

According to Spotrac, the Vikings are clearing $9 million in cap space with the move. Spotrac listed Cook making an average of $12.6 million per year on his five-year, $63 million contract he signed in 2020.

Last week, the Herald reported the Dolphins landing Cook could be a “real possibility” if the Vikings cut him.

CBS Sports reported the Bills, Bears, Cardinals and 49ers — in addition to the Dolphins — are other potential landing spots for the 2017 second-round draft pick.
