USF running back Brian Battie announced Friday he’s entering the transfer portal.

The former Braden River High star, who also played at Sarasota High prior to his college career, made the announcement on social media.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Bulls Nation and our amazing supporters as a USF athlete over the last three years,” Battie wrote in an image he shared on Twitter. “It has been an incredible journey and I learned a lot on and off the field. Thank you to my coaches, old and new, and my brothers that I shared the field with. It was a privilege to be part of this football family.”

“While I enter the transfer portal and continue to pursue my dreams, it is my hope that I can continue making all of you that support me proud. To God be the glory.”

Battie was a consensus All-American in 2021 and set a program record this past season with 1,936 all-purpose yards. Of those, nearly 1,200 came as rushing yards and he had five straight games topping 100 rushing yards in 2022.

Battie was named to Phil Steele’s Third Team All-America roster in December, marking the second time a Bulls player received All-America honors in multiple seasons. The other is defensive end George Selvie, who accomplished the feat in 2007 and 2008.
