The 2023 Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, set for Jan. 29 in front of the FTX Arena, has sold out.

Organizers capped registration in the past event to 15,000 and it was sold out last November. The January 2023 event was expanded to 18,000 and was announced as a sellout on Wednesday.

An official waiting list is open through Nov. 30 for those still seeking to compete, with spots becoming available if and when any current registrants cancel. The filled waiting list spots will be announced by Life Time in early December. Waiting list registration is available at themiamimarathon.com.

“The main emphasis is that we had great success last year with the reduced numbers,’’ marathon co-founder and Life Time Chief Running Officer Frankie Ruiz told the Miami Herald. “And for 2023 we can repeat the same great experience with a slight increase in total registrants to further meet the demand.’’

Ruiz said the out-of-town registration numbers have increased slightly for the upcoming race. He said somewhere around 70-percent of the field is from outside Miami-Dade County.

Runners unable to run in person can register for the virtual race — #VirtuallyMiamiFamous — which allows participants to take part from around the world. Go to www.themiamimarathon.com/virtuallymiamifamous.
