Every fall in recent years, the SEC is lauded as the best conference in college football.

And after Thursday’s first round of the NFL Draft, pro teams can see why the SEC is loaded with talent.

Georgia’s national championship defense produced five first-round picks, which was the most defensive players by one school in the first round. The previous record was four by the 2004 Miami Hurricanes and 2006 Florida State Seminoles.

But it wasn’t just Georgia, with six other SEC schools having players drafted in the first round.

While other Power Five conferences had first-round picks, the Big 12 was absent and the American Athletic Conference had two.
