One of the most explosive players for the Florida Gators football team is facing an arraignment next month.

UF quarterback Anthony Richardson was cited April 4 at 4:11 a.m. for allegedly driving 105 mph in an unincorporated area of Alachua County, according to the county’s court records.

Due to excessive speeding of more than 30 mph over the posted 60 mph speed limit, Richardson has a mandatory court hearing scheduled for May 25, according to court records.

The Tampa Bay Times reported “Richardson, who has a name, image and likeness deal with Gainesville Dodge, was driving a 2021 Dodge at the time.”

The 19-year-old Richardson, a Gainesville native, was an SEC all-freshman team member last season for his dual-threat play. Last Thursday, Richardson played in the Gators’ spring game, where he threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns in unofficial stats, the Times reported.

“When I think about a quarterback, we think about a person who represents everything of what the organization is about,” first-year UF coach Billy Napier told the Times after the game. “Certainly at the highest level of football, the quarterback is the face of the organization They set the greatest example with their work ethic, their attention to detail, their self-discipline, their approach.”
