Who has the best conference records in March Madness heading into the Final Four?
Saint Peter’s Cinderella run to the Elite Eight produced the best mid-major conference record at this year’s NCAA Tournament.
But among the heavyweights, the Atlantic Coast Conference sparkled. The ACC had two teams advance to the Final Four, and the league is guaranteed a representative in the national title game with UNC and Duke squaring off in a national semifinal Saturday.
Before the tournament began, the Big Ten had the most tournament bids, while the SEC was tied with the Big 12 and Big East for the second most.
But March Madness wasn’t kind to the Big Ten and SEC, with both conferences failing to get a team to the Final Four. And only one team from either league advanced to the Elite Eight.
Kansas, from the Big 12, and Villanova, from the Big East, are in the other Final Four game this weekend.
