Did Miami fall or rise in ESPN expert Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology? How about UF?
The college basketball season is entering its stretch run with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament a month away.
ESPN college basketball expert Joe Lunardi released his second bracketology projections Tuesday to give an indication on how the selection committee might feel on each team’s tournament chances based on their resumes.
What does it mean for the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators, the only in-state programs Lunardi pegged for inclusion into March Madness in his first bracketology of the season last week?
After winning both of their ACC games last week, the Hurricanes rose in Lunardi’s latest bracketology. He has UM projected as a 10 seed in the East Region to face Wyoming to begin the tournament.
Miami (18-7, 10-4 ACC) was listed as an 11 seed as one of the last four byes last week. The Canes’ remaining regular season games are against Louisville, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Syracuse.
For the Gators (16-9, 6-6 SEC), a four-game win streak was snapped at Kentucky on Saturday and that loss moved UF from a bubble team making it into the dance to being part of the first four teams out of the tournament.
Last week, Lunardi projected the Gators in a play-in game for a 12 seed berth. This week, he has them with Memphis, Michigan and San Diego State on the outside looking in.
No other Florida schools made Lunardi’s bracketology for the second straight week.
Lunardi’s latest bracketology has Gonzaga, Auburn, Arizona and Kentucky as the four No. 1 seeds with Kansas, Duke, Baylor and Purdue as No. 2 seeds.
