Miami Central alum James Cook pens farewell message to Georgia Bulldogs after title win
Two days after helping the Georgia Bulldogs claim the program’s first football national championship since 1980, Miami native James Cook expressed his gratitude in a farewell message on his personal Instagram account.
The former Miami Central High star, whose older brother Dalvin is one of the NFL’s top running backs, had six carries for 77 rushing yards in Georgia’s 33-18 victory over Alabama on Monday.
One of his rushing attempts went for 67 yards on a scoring drive in the third quarter that gave the Bulldogs their first lead at 13-9.
““Dawg Nation, Monday night still feels surreal,” Cook, a senior, said on Instagram. “Bringing a National Championship to Athens was the ultimate goal of my college football career and that has now been completed. I want to thank every single person that supported us throughout the season and the love I have for you all is forever. I’d also like to thank my family, Coach Smart, Coach McGee, the athletic training staff and the University of Georgia. 4 out.”
Cook is slated to play in the Senior Bowl before preparing for the NFL Draft.
