Inter Miami trades goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira for Atlanta United midfielder Mo Adams
The Inter Miami rebuild continued on Friday with the addition of midfielder/fullback Mo Adams, who was traded from Atlanta United for the rights to backup goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira.
Adams, 25, is a Nottingham, England native who has played in MLS for four seasons with Atlanta and the Chicago Fire. He played two years for Syracuse University, where he was a two-time All-ACC selection, a member of the ACC All-Academic Team and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. He was captain of the team as a sophomore.
He will not occupy an international roster spot for Inter Miami as he has a U.S. Green Card.
“Mo is another acquisition as we improve the team leading into next year. He is an athletic and skillful player, can feature as a midfielder and right back, and brings a winning mentality that will be valuable for our roster,” said chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson.
His career began in the youth ranks of Nottingham Forest in England. He also played for the Derby County U-23 side in the U-21 Premier League (2013-2015), Boston United in England’s National League North (2015-2016), Reading United in the Premier Development League (2017), and FC Tulsa (2018).
He is the third new player Miami signed so far this off-season, joining winger/forward Ariel Lassiter (son of former MLS great Roy Lassiter) from Houston Dynamo and Brazilian midfielder Jean Mota from Santos. The club also re-signed veteran midfielder Victor Ulloa and traded winger Lewis Morgan to the New York Red Bulls for $1.2 million in general allocation money. Training camp opens Jan. 17.
