Who’s the best college football team in Florida? UCF quarterback says Knights are
Following the 2017 college football season, UCF claimed a national title. The NCAA later recognized the claim in its official record book in August 2018.
But those claims lessened last season when the Knights lost three times.
However, UCF returned a strong offensive core and garnered a Top 25 ranking to begin the 2020 campaign.
Playing Georgia Tech, a Power 5 opponent that defeated Florida State the week before, the Knights cruised in a 49-21 victory.
That led to sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel to make the following claim, according to 247 Sports.
“You saw what happened last week, you can say we’re the best team in Florida,” Gabriel said, according to 247 Sports.
Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes fans might disagree with that assertion. UF is ranked No. 5 in the country and begins the season this week against Ole Miss, while UM faces FSU.
The Canes (2-0) are ranked No. 12 in the latest Associated Press poll, one spot better than UCF, after beating Louisville during the weekend.
