Watch Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew’s funny response on not getting COVID-19
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew created a stir last season after taking over for an injured Nick Foles.
Minshew Mania was born among Jags fans, though it was just a continuation of his collegiate career at Washington State.
It wasn’t just referencing his style on the field, but his unique persona.
So when Minshew spoke about returning off the Reserve/COVID-19 list just a couple days after being placed on it, he did it in true Minshew fashion.
“Did not contract the virus,” Minshew said in a media conference call with reporters. “Took one look at me, ran the other way. It was probably in its best interest.”
Players put on the Reserve/COVID list aren’t necessarily there due to testing positive for the novel coronavirus. It’s for players who test positive or players who came into contact with someone who tested positive.
Minshew fell into the latter category, coming into contact with a teammate who tested positive. A total of five Jaguars were placed on the list, while other teams around the NFL, including the Dolphins, have placed players on it.
In addition to the COVID-19 discussion, Minshew said missing the first day of practice, which was Monday, was like missing the first day of school with having “my outfit picked out and everything.”
