There’s no sports for betting. So, sports book posted an over/under on Trump’s words.
There’s no live action human sports for wagering. So, a sports gambling website decided to put up numbers so people could lay down some money on President Donald Trump’s daily pronouncements.
SportsBettingDime.com has posted Over/Under numbers on the words and phrases the president regularly uses in his daily coronavirus pandemic media briefings.
Quick tutorial for betting novices: Over/Under numbers are exactly what they sound like — a betting line number set for a final point total or statistic. You bet on whether the final total will be over or under that number. For example, at the most recent Super Bowl, most places had 53 or 54 as the Over/Under for total points. The final score was Kansas City 31, San Francisco 20, 51 total points. So, the Under bettors won.
Now, for President Trump’s daily news briefings, the highest number for SportsBettingDime is 24.5, the number of times the words “fantastic,” “incredible,” “amazing,” and “tremendous” will be said as a group. Separate them, and oddsmakers think “fantastic” will be said the most, as it’s solo Over/Under is 8.5.
The lowest totals are for the phrases “not our fault,” “working very hard,” and “we’re doing a great job,” each is 2.5 by itself. You can’t bet them in combination, however.
Asked by email whether video or the official White House transcript will be the final arbiter on the count, a spokesman for the site says it tracks Trump’s words and statements by video.
