Garth Brooks is a country music legend.

Barry Sanders is a football legend.

So when Brooks performed a concert earlier this week at Detroit’s Ford Field, the music icon donned a Barry Sanders jersey in tribute to the former Lions great.

It all sounds good, right? Well, when Brooks posted the photo — which shows him from behind wearing a cowboy hat and holding onto a railing while it wearing the Sanders No. 20 Lions jersey — to his official Instagram account, fans went on the offensive.

Why?

Because fans thought it was a Bernie Sanders 2020 jersey. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont senator, is one of the candidates seeking the Democrats’ nomination for the 2020 election against incumbent President Donald Trump.

The jersey, though, was not for Bernie Sanders but football legend Barry Sanders, who played at Oklahoma State where Brooks also attended.
