Watch golf legend Tiger Woods’ tribute to Kobe Bryant at this week’s PGA Tour event

The PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational in Southern California at Riviera Country Club has switched out a traditional flag on the No. 8 hole for a yellow and purple one in honor of the late Kobe Bryant.

The eighth hole is also being nicknamed, “Mamba,” to honor Bryant’s nickname he picked up during his playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bryant and eight others, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, died in a helicopter crash a week before the Super Bowl on Jan. 26.

On Thursday, SoCal native and longtime Lakers fan, Tiger Woods, paid tribute to Bryant in a couple ways.

He eagled the first hole from 24-feet, 8-inches — the two numbers Bryant wore in his Lakers career — and he flipped his ball to his caddy in Kobe fashion following a birdie on the “Mamba” eighth hole.

Woods is one of several golfers in this week’s field paying tribute to Bryant.

Brooks Koepka, ranked No. 2 in the world, and Justin Thomas, ranked fourth in the world, are wearing Kobe-inspired shoes this week, while No. 1-ranked golfer in the world Rory McIlroy has Kobe Bryant-styled headcovers in his bag, according to Golf Digest.
