Florida Gators tap South Florida for latest football commit
The Florida Gators tapped the South Florida football pipeline for its latest commitment.
Miami Palmetto High’s Brashard Smith announced via social media that he was committing to the Gators’ 2021 recruiting class.
“First off I want to thank God for guiding me in the right direction and blessing me with the talent I have,” Smith wrote on Twitter. “I also want to thank my family, my coaches, and my teammates who helped me get to this point. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. With that being said, I am exited to announce that I am committed to the University of Florida.”
Smith is a consensus three-star prospect on the 247 Sports’ Composite rankings. He’s rated as the No. 332nd player nationally for the 2021 class.
The 5-foot-8 1/2, 177-pound wide receiver/running back chose UF over several offers, including Boston College and Cincinnati.
The Gators have nine commits for the 2021 class. However, none of those commitments are binding until players sign a national letter of intent either during the 2021 early signing period in December or National Signing Day held on the first Wednesday in February each year.
