Who won the recruiting battle for Florida on signing day?
Florida high school football has produced tons of top prospects who have had college and NFL careers.
It’s often viewed as a hotbed for talent that college football coaches want to snag for their recruiting classes.
The 2020 recruiting cycle is no different.
But just who won the Sunshine State recruiting battle for blue-chip — consensus four-star and five-star — prospects following Wednesday’s action in the early signing day period?
Here’s a look at the number of blue-chip players, by college choice, who signed Wednesday:

- Alabama — 3

LSU — 2
- Penn State — 2
- Texas A&M — 1
- Auburn — 1

There are 61 recruits rated as a four-star or five-star by the 247 Sports’ composite rankings, with 54 who signed Wednesday. Each of the state’s Big 3 (Florida, Florida State, Miami) had at least one commit among those seven unsigned players.
The 61 total includes Bradenton’s IMG Academy, which features players from around the country as well as internationally.
South Florida is a coveted recruiting ground within the Sunshine State. This past high school football season saw South Florida teams capture state titles in seven of the eight classifications. Only Madison County, in Class 1A, won a state championship outside of Miami-Dade or Broward counties. (Neither county had a team in 1A).
Among the 61 blue-chip prospects in Florida, 23 played at either a Miami-Dade or Broward program.
