For Florida high school football players looking to stay in state to play college football, there’s now one less option.

Jacksonville University announced Tuesday it is dissolving its football program.

“For more than a year, the university explored a variety of options designed to strengthen the entire athletics department and position the program for long-term growth and success,” the school said in the announcement on its website.

According to the announcement, the school is offering full tuition scholarships to every football player choosing to stay at Jacksonville University until graduation.

The Dolphins have played in the nonscholarship Pioneer League since 1998.

The Florida Times-Union reported coach Ian Shields and his staff will have their contracts honored.

JU went 3-9 in its final season.
