As with many things, we often opt for the middle ground when it comes to our tech purchases, including tablets. True, you can save money on a budget tablet, but then you might not get all the performance and features you want. Or, you can spend big money on a tablet that comes with all the bells and whistles, but you might not use them all.

For that sweet spot between those two extremes, we like the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. It boasts a solid set of features in a sleek, solid design for a price that’s closer to budget than high-end. And with a limited-time discount on Amazon, it’s now priced competitively with low-budget models that don’t offer nearly as much.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Galaxy Tab A9+ is its generous 11-inch 1080p screen — bigger than those you’ll find in other tablets for this price range, but not so unwieldy that you’ll have issues fitting it in a bag or backpack. The 2024 edition of the A9+ uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, which allows you to operate multiple apps simultaneously without hiccups, including graphics-intensive games.

As an Android device, you’ll have access to a wide range of entertainment and productivity apps via the Google Play Store. With battery life of around seven hours, the tablet is perfect for a day at the office or an evening spent streaming videos or listening to music.

Speaking of entertainment, we usually prefer using wired or Bluetooth headphones to listen to audio from tablets, and the Galaxy Tab A9+ accommodates both. But if you need to use the tablet’s built-in speakers, they perform surprisingly well and at louder volume than more expensive tablets.

Another A9+ feature we very much appreciate is its Samsung DEX mode, which transforms your display into a desktop-like interface — perfect for setting up and using your tablet like a computer, if you add a mouse and detachable or wireless keyboard. And with the ability to add to the tablet’s 64GB memory through an SD card slot, you won’t have limits on the amount of files you can create or download, or the number of apps you can have on hand.

Both casual users and expert reviewers are bullish on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. Amazon reviewers call it a “perfect blend of performance, design, and functionality,” and we have to agree. At its currently discounted price, the package of productivity and value that is the A9+ is a better deal than ever.
