I love to travel, and experiencing different cultures, foods and scenic destinations is always a highlight of my year. But what’s not a highlight is figuring out a way to power up my devices or keep them charged while I’m away from home — particularly when I’m in a country where the outlets get all funny-looking and all I have is the standard, boring two- or three-pronged plug.

Whenever I pack for a trip, I always include a travel adapter, even if I’m staying in the States. And travel adapters don’t come more versatile and useful than the EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter. I recommend it as a go-to adapter for all devices, and here’s why.

As with most travel adapters, the EPICKA is compact. With a brick-like design that’s less than three inches high and two inches long and wide, it slides into a backpack or suitcase without issues and also comes in a padded protective pouch. But within its smooth design is a wealth of ports and slide-out adapters that will give you access to power in over 200 countries. (I’m only up to 40+ countries myself, but I can say that the EPICKA hasn’t let me down yet.)

To use the adapter, all you have to do is push a button on the side to select the specific adapter you want to use (you have four choices that cover all countries), and the correct plug will slide out, ready to be plugged into the nearest power outlet. I’ve dealt with adapters that don’t always have a great fit with the outlet, or slip out too easily when jostled, but the EPICKA does a great job of staying in place once you plug it in.

Even better, the EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter gives you a bunch of charging options. Not only does it have a universal AC socket for standard power cords of all shapes, but it also comes with five USB ports (two USB-A and three USB-C) for plugging in devices ranging from iPhones and battery chargers to tablets and laptops. In other words, you can charge six devices at once, which is ultra-convenient when you’re traveling in a group and everyone needs to charge their phone at the end of the day.

The adapter comes with short-circuit protection as well as an 10A fuse that guards against overloads. It even comes with a spare fuse so you can insert it and move on without skipping a beat if the installed fuse blows. And if you’re wondering if this adapter fits the strict rules for adapters on a cruise ship, never fear — since it doesn’t have any cords or use surge protection, it qualifies for cruise travel. One friendly word of warning, though: This isn’t a voltage converter. If you’re looking for that (for example, converting power from a 240-volt outlet for a device that can only handle 110 volts), I recommend this SOOKOO voltage converter.

There’s a reason that reviewers at places like New York Magazine and PopSugar rate the EPICKA so highly — it’s reliable, it’s compact and it’s a lifesaver whenever you’re traveling to foreign lands. Even when I’m not traveling, I use the EPICKA at home as an easy way to charge multiple devices at once. You can’t get a much more useful adapter than this!
