Katy Herman is a freelance writer and editor specializing in commerce, fashion, and pop culture. She spent seven years on the BuzzFeed Shopping team, starting as an editorial fellow and moving up to an editor and manager overseeing the hiring and training of new fellows. She’s passionate about creating conversational, inclusive content that can brighten a reader’s day and introduce them to their new favorite product — especially if it’s a new piece in their wardrobe that will make them feel like their best self. She has also contributed to Chicago Splash, Girls’ Life, Mission Magazine, and Sartorial Geek. When she’s not writing, she’s serving as the executive director of The Hansel Foundation, a nonprofit she co-founded to advocate for the rescue of pit bull-type dogs.
