Artists misbehave
Re Leonard Pitts Jr.’s Aug. 31 column, “Is Nate Parker’s apology enough?”: This is a dilemma I have pondered as well when I think of great artists and the way they have conducted their lives. Frank Lloyd Wright, Woody Allen, Paul Gauguin — do I boycott their great art because they were not nice people, missing out on their huge contributions? Do I ignore their wrongdoing and risk being seen as supporting their despicable behavior? Compartmentalize their work from their behavior?
Thanks, Leonard for the thoughtful column.
