The accelerated schedule to complete the four travel lanes of Miami Beach’s major thoroughfare to bring relief to the traveling public has always been this administration’s No. 1 priority.
While there are still aesthetic improvements pending for the Alton Road segment between Eighth and 17th streets, the plan was always to open the lanes by December — eight months ahead of schedule — and then perform the landscaping within the remaining time fame of the project, which is set to be complete by August 2015.
There are also a large number of trees that have yet to be installed. We are still working with FDOT on the material that will be placed around those trees because of aesthetic concerns raised by some residents. We have been very involved in making sure that Alton Road is functional and beautiful.
