Let DOC’s Jones work
Gov. Rick Scott and our legislators are going to be real surprised having Julie Jones as secretary of Florida’s Department of Corrections.
Jones is what the DOC has needed for too many years. She is a no-nonsense administrator.
Jones retired from her post as head of law enforcement for the Florida Wildlife Commission. She was called to public service with the state police, and now the Department of Corrections.
My knowledge of Jones stems from just a small part of her job with the Wildlife Commission, enforcing laws regarding exotic animals in captivity.
My attendance at many FWC meetings taught me a lot about the scope of her job and the mission of the commission.
If the politicians let her, she will do what is right and needed. The question is will they?
