Parental Olympics
The mommy wars and helicopter parenting are all a form of competition. It’s a contest to see who wins. I saw it when I had children: mothers competed over who had the biggest belly, then who had the shortest labor or the heaviest baby. And the competition doesn’t end there.
Parents, especially mothers, want their children to be the biggest, the smartest, the most athletic and then the most successful. American culture is very competitive.
