Trump should resign
On Aug. 7, 1974, the Republican leadership visited President Nixon to urge him to resign. Two days later, he did. In my book, the Republican leadership has a new appointment today of a similar nature: Ask Donald Trump to abandon his campaign for president.
He not only shows so easily derision for people, individually or collectively, but also offends martyrs such as Purple Heart recipient Capt. Humayun Khan. Republicans should realize that there is not one trace of dignity left in their party if it continues to support him.
What’s much, much more important than defeating Hillary Clinton is staying committed to the values that Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan exemplified so well. Mike Pence, Trump’s vice presidential nominee, is an honorable man who can represent well the GOP and America.
