Scott drops the ball

I commend Gov. Rick Scott for being the ever-diligent governor he has shown himself to be by waiting so long to allow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to come in and begin testing that should have begun eight months ago.

Global-health law professor Lawrence Gosting was raising the alarm for months that we were ill prepared for what was coming. Instead, Scott kept CDC officials out of the day-to-day operations in the hopes of keeping this under wraps and avoiding headlines like the ones we have now.

The 15 reported cases only represent the people who are severely affected. Who knows how many infected residents there really are? You dropped the ball , Gov. Scott — again!

Between the dumping of more toxic waste into our waters and the Zika outbreak, you once again have proven to be just the steward this state needs to finally become the nasty swamp it was all along.

I can’t wait to see what wonderful things you will be accomplishing as a senator if anyone is foolish enough to vote for you.
