Still hungry

The Miami Herald’s July 30 front-page article “Bringing fine dining to Cuba, without apologies” is dedicated to a well-meaning fellow who hopes to bring high-end cuisine to Cuba.

I grew up watching Ana Dolores Gómez Kemp’s TV cooking show when Julia Child’s show was only the dream of some public television executive.

I learned that the essence of good cooking is the quality of the ingredients.

There will not be any quality ingredients for average Cubans until they can reclaim the basic freedom to grow their own food.
