Cuban labor law
After reading Frank Calzon’s Jan. 29 article, Investing in Cuba can be a risky business, I am writing to encourage the Herald’s editors to look into labor conditions in Cuba and to take an editorial position on such an important matter.
Labor unions in the United States are no longer as important as they once were, but in America one can count on newspapers, radio, television stations and all kinds of professional organizations — as well as our state legislators — to insist on fair wages and to attempt to bring to an end the worst abuses by exposing them.
If President Obama were to focus on labor and worker issues in Cuba, his new efforts would be well received beyond business and investment circles.
