Be thankful, Senator
Sen. John McCain owes me and millions of other Americans an apology for his crass comments directed against peaceful demonstrators during a recent committee hearing. Apparently he and other chest-thumping flag wavers feel the Constitution is only relevant when it suits their narrow-minded purposes.
While McCain was rotting away in Hanoi, we were in the streets doing our utmost to end the Vietnam War.
We succeeded. In so doing, we shortened the war, saved the lives of thousands of American servicemen, brought McCain home years sooner than he otherwise would have and probably saved his life as well.
Don’t be bitter, senator, be thankful.
