Kudos to Carollo

Kudos to Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo and the Miami Bayside Foundation for lending their strong support to Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ new marine technology jobs training program.

Their generous investment in our young people is a wise one: The marine industry currently provides about jobs to an estimated 55,000 Floridians, many of whom are Miami-Dade residents.

The industry has been a mainstay of the South Florida economy for more than a century.

As the operators of the annual Miami International Boat Show, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has been working hand-in-hand with local marine businesses for decades, so we’re especially excited to see our next generation get the training to keep this dynamic industry going strong.

Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and School Board member Lubby Navarro showed tremendous foresight in launching the marine tech program, and the NMMA looks forward to working with the professionals that it produces.
