Why the fireworks?

There has to be a limit to the explosive contents of fireworks. What is the entertainment purpose of loud explosions?

I guarantee that anyone who has been in a war zone finds zero entertainment value. On the contrary, it is a painful reminder of what a loud explosion signifies to us veterans. On the night of July 4, I went to my car to retrieve something when my neighbor exploded one of those bombs. My right ear is still ringing!
