Millions of taxpayer dollars were spent investigating Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized use of unsecured emails, but the money at least seemed well spent because the FBI did indeed find she was extremely careless with classified information, that she had to know she was handling it highly improperly, and that “hostile actors” may have acquired our secrets by her actions.
Mishandling classified information jeopardizes national security and is why it is such a serious federal crime. Yet, the FBI did not recommend criminal charges. It cites it found no evidence of an intention to do harm or that emails were successfully hacked. But those are not defenses for the statutory violations it found she committed.
