I’m upset and dismayed about our senators fast-tracking a bill to gut the plan approved for a marine preserve in a portion of Biscayne National Park.
This plan has been discussed at countless public meetings and was finalized despite the fishing industry, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and our Republican congressmen trying to derail any marine protection in the park.
This is a pathetic, last-minute attempt to favor the fishing industry at all costs. When it comes to preserving bigger populations of fish, the industry does not have the best interests of future generations in mind.
