Employee benefits

Re the June 26 article Why cataract surgery for Duncan the terrier cost Miami taxpayers $8,430: Let me get this straight — the vacation time is provided to employees as a benefit. They work and accrue it. Why should anyone question what they sell it back for? It really is none of anyone’s business, and shame on the Miami Herald for calling out those individuals and printing their names.

If the city or the employer doesn’t like the way it is being done, then revamp the system. It is their money, plain and simple.
