In a recent letter Renee Arazie laments Leonard Pitts Jr.’s comparison of Adolf Hitler to Donald Trump. He asks, “In what world has Trump killed 20 million people or gassed 6 million Jews?”
I would like to point out that Hitler did not do any of those things either until after he was elected. Trump has already started scapegoating and singling out certain groups of people and hinted that he would use his presidential powers to get back at his critics and enemies.
So Pitts’ comparisons are fair ones.
Besides, if you think that the dive the stock market took in the wake of the Brexit vote was steep, the economic uncertainty brought on by Trump’s election would be so very much worse.
