After reading the June 9 letter in regard to making South Florida the new 51st state, I think that I have the solution for the question of where to make the new state line.
The line should be made at the point where home insurance rates go up on one side and down on the other.
For too long, South Florida has been the stepchild to the insurance companies and the outrageous premiums levied upon us.
Recently, West, Central and North Florida experienced Tropical Storm Colin. Any damage claims resulting from this will probably be paid by those of us who live in South Florida with no increase to the premiums of those who do not.

And, while we are talking about home insurance, if I see any more commercials on television for State Farm and its outstanding house coverage, I will scream.
Before I dropped State Farm, it invited me to pay $10,000 a year for the privilege of being their customer.
