Pinecrest drainage
Re the June 22 editorial, Stop the dithering and fund Zika fight: I would say the same to Pinecrest: Stop the dithering and clean up the mess.
Eight years ago, following a contentious debate, a former five-acre horse pasture on Southwest 72nd Avenue and 96th Street was permitted for development minus drainage upfront.
It’s been one environmental disaster after another ever since.
Building began in October 2015 and moat land followed seven weeks later.
Without proper drainage, there is no place for the stormwater to go. Couple stagnant water with construction site trash, and you’ve got a disaster in the making.
It’s a dire health issue that the Village of Pinecrest can’t get a grip on.
Hope Marcus Christensen,
Pinecrest
