I have tried unsuccessfully to close an Animal Services account and have an erroneous citation removed. My pet Heidi passed away on June 22, 2008. I submitted a death certificate after receiving another letter on April 4, 2016.
However, I continue to receive code violation notices. Then I was told that the violation wasn’t for a death certificate, but rather failure to have Heidi vaccinated for rabies.
Obviously, this information was never entered into Miami-Dade County Animal Services database.
On June 8, I obtained and submitted, in person verification that she had been vaccinated. Now I’m told that Animal Services would have to notify Credit & Collection to release the lien.
There should be a more efficient way to handle the submission and recording of information regarding beloved pets. The grief and sorrow over losing my dear pet is like a wound that never heals.
