Deflate-gate explained

I'm from Miami, so there is no love lost for the Patriots. However, I used to do a lot of soccer coaching and one season we ruined a dozen or so soccer balls with a defective needle.

The needle damaged the inflation port on every ball on the team. It took us awhile to figure out what was going on with all of the under-inflated balls.

While nothing gives me more pleasure than dissing the Pats there may be a viable reason for the pressure discrepancy.
