It is a mistake for Hillary Clinton to try to steer her policies to the left. The potential left-leaning voters have no place else to go but to her.
Instead, she has a tremendous opportunity to attract disenfranchised Republicans, moderates and Democrats who would be tempted by a more reasonable rational alternative to Donald Trump.
A vice presidential choice such as an Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders would be absolute turn-offs. They are even more frightening than Trump.
Clinton’s strength is her pragmatism and experience. Let’s get real. Warren and Sanders are offering immediate gratification that just isn’t going to happen. I’m sorry, but there is no free lunch. Attracting moderates, whatever their party affiliation, will be more beneficial to Clinton’s election success.
