Safe shores?

At least once a week a small marine vessel makes its way from Cuba to the Florida Keys or further north. These vessels mostly do not have power, so the journey takes many days.

Is the Coast Guard not aware of the routes or don’t they care to patrol them?

If it’s so easy to drift to Florida without being stopped, the smugglers with fast drug boats should have it easy. Maybe the Coast Guard should invest in seeing-eye dogs.
