Education platform

Re the June 15 article, Clinton meets with Sanders: The Bernie Sanders platform that Hillary Clinton should adopt in order to attract the most additional votersis federally funded free tuition at all public colleges and universities for all qualified applicants and very significant reduction of the interest on federal student loans. This would most impassion young voters and many middle-aged parents that can’t afford college for their kids.

Such federal scholarships for all youths who are qualified would markedly increase higher education opportunity for those who are from less than average income families. It would also increase college entry competition among those most qualified (regardless of income) and thereby raise the quality of college graduates who enter the work force. As suggested by Sanders, those in the upper 1 percent of income should bear the cost of this program through higher taxes.
